Bo Sang Umbrella and San Kamphaeng Handicraft Festival

The annual Bo Sang Umbrella and San Kamphaeng Handicraft Festival will take place from January 20-22, 2023 which falls over Friday to Sunday, at Bo Sang village, Tonpao sub-district, San Kamphaeng district, Chiang Mai. 

The cultural event is held to honour and celebrate the local community that creates Thailand’s most famous, artfully painted umbrellas handmade from a native plant Sa, or mulberry bark. Enjoy colorful parades, skillful artisanship by locals, live music, dance, cultural performances, exhibitions, markets and the Bo Sang beauty contest in an authentic art and craft Thai village of Bo Sang, just 8kms outside the tourist hub of Chiang Mai.

Take memorable photos of the parades where Thai women in traditional Lanna costume ride bikes, while holding colourful umbrellas. Parades, live performances, music, exhibitions and basketry and weaving demonstrations and the Bor Sang Beauty contest for the finale.
