What we’ll do

About the Amazing Full Day Program At Elephant Rescue Park

women at elephant rescue park

This full-day elephant tour begins with a scenic drive through the countryside north of Chiang Mai City. If you visit between August and January, the rice fields and forests are lush and green. During the months between February and May, the weather is dry and the surrounding landscape is golden.

Once you arrive at the Elephant Rescue Park, you’ll be given a special mahout outfit to change into, which is special clothes that an elephant trainer wears. Afterward, you’ll learn about the long and deeply traditional relationship that Thai people have with elephants. You’ll also learn about that park and that it’s a newly established sanctuary that provides a safe and secure home for elephants that have been rescued from circus shows, tourism and logging industries, and elephant riding.

After your introductory lesson, now it’s time to meet the elephants! To win them over, you’ll harvest some sugarcane and learn how to make herbal vitamin balls. Meet them one by one and feed them before enjoying your own satisfying lunch of Thai food.

After a brief rest, the tour continues with a scenic walk through the jungle beside the elephants. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos at a beautiful viewpoint and of the elephants playing in a nearby mud pit. Afterward, cool off with a dip in the a natural pool and scrub the elephants clean in the cool water.

The tour wraps up by saying ‘goodbye’ to the elephants and changing into dry clothing before relaxing on the ride back to your hotel in Chiang Mai. There are no additional stops or ‘add-ons’ during this tour.
