Discovering Chiang Mai Markets

Chiang Mai Market Woworot

Chiang Mai would not be the same without its markets... By quietly strolling the streets of the city you will certainly come across one of the small neighborhood markets where you can experience the real life of the people of northern Thailand. However, if you prefer to go to one of the largest markets in the city, follow us!

Sunday Market

The only thing that many tourists remember from Chiang Mai is the huge Sunday market... Spread from East to West on Ratchadamnoen Road in the old city every Sunday from 5:00PM, this market is an absolute must. There, you will mostly find local artisans presenting their jewelry creations, clothing and other beauty products, as well as street artists, but also many local food stalls in the temples of the street. The atmosphere is always very good and this is where you will find the best offers for gifts to bring back to your family and friends. There also is a Saturday market located on Wua Lai Street, in the south of the city.

Night Bazaar

Unlike the Sunday market, the Night Bazaar is a huge market that is open every evening from 7:00PM. You will also find many craft products but also many "Made in China" clothes and other items. That is certainly why a lot of tourists find it less authentic than the Sunday night market. Feel free to go and take a look at Chang Khlan Road.

Warorot Market

Located near the Night Bazaar, the Warorot market is much more authentic than the latter. Frequented mainly by locals, this covered market is home to hundreds of stalls of all kinds. You will find beautiful vegetables and typical fruits (do not miss the big jackfruit and longan clusters), groceries, meat, fish and also a section of clothing. The prices in this market are generally much lower than in the Night Bazaar or the Sunday Market, so enjoy your time there!

Flower Market

Coming out of Warorot market, if you head to the banks of the Ping River, there is a good chance that you will come across this beautiful flower market. This is where the faithful come to buy their offerings and you will see beautiful jasmine flowers necklaces and lotus flowers. Most vendors also sell bulk flowers if you want to treat yourself (or someone else...)!

Experience the unique atmosphere of the Warorot market through this delightful tour!
