Phuket Weather

The Phuket region of Thailand is located on an island with a tropical monsoon climate. Regardless of precipitation, it is always warm (the average high temperature is 32°C/90°F, the average low temperature is 25°C/77°F), – making Phuket a perfect place to escape the cold.

Monsoon (September-October)

The months of September and October will be especially hot and rainy, as the monsoon usually starts around this time. If you do not mind the rain, there are fewer tourists to compete with at this time, which means there is more room for you on the beach. Just don’t forget your umbrella.

Prime Time (November- March)

November/December to March are the most pleasant time to plan your vacation if you want to avoid rain and the extreme heat. During these months it is cooler and there is a gentle breeze that balances the humidity better than during the rest of the year – and it rains less! For visitors from wintry countries, Phuket offers a summer escape at this time of year! Of course, this means that the beaches and sights are busier – and the prices are higher.

Hot & Happening (March-May)

The warmest time of the year is from March to May, and the humidity continues throughout the year. From May to October, expect daily thunderstorms in the late afternoon and early evening. Bring an umbrella and enjoy the sun between showers; it is still a very pleasant time to visit. While it rains all year round, you can expect less heat and less rain from November/December to March (when most visitors flock to Phuket).

Cultural Delight

Are you visiting the country in April? Immerse yourself in the Thai New Year festival of Songkran. The joyous festival, with its water battles, isn’t only a rich cultural experience, but also a wonderful way to beat the April heat.

Final Thought

No matter what time of year best fits your vacation schedule, there will always be plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to make your Phuket vacation unforgettable.
