Khantoke Dinner and Traditional Dance Performance – Khum Khantoke

Overview

This special cultural dinner show combines a delicious Northern Thai-style “Khantoke” meal with traditional Lanna songs and dances. Join us for an evening and watch talented musicians and beautifully adorned dancers put on magical performances such as the famous ” Klong Sabadchai “Victory Drum” ,King Ka La , and Fon Dab among others. This Thai classical performance and dinner at Khum Khantoke is unique to Northern Thailand and a must-see event in Chiang Mai!

• 6 PM- 6:30 PM : Meet at your hotel lobby
• 7 PM : Arrive at Khum Khantoke and enjoy dining on a khantoke dinner
• 7:45 PM : Watch as musicians and dancers put on a Thai cultural performance
• 8:30 PM : Depart from Khum Khantoke
• 9 PM : Return to your hotel in Chiang Mai

About the Traditional Khantoke Dinner

Join us for a spectacular Thai traditional dance and dinner show at Khum Khantoke. This centuries-old dining experience, which is traditionally part of weddings, house blessings, and other ceremonial occasions, is the perfect way to experience the rich culture of Northern Thailand.

Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Khum Khantoke in Chiang Mai. After arriving, your hostess will ask you to remove your shoes before guiding you to your dining area, complete with floor cushions and a low round table made of wood or rattan known as a “khantoke.” If you prefer, you can also choose to dine at a table with chairs.

Begin your meal with fruit juice, herbal tea, or an alcoholic drink. After ordering, your hostess will present you with an array of Lanna dishes featuring flavorful curries, local dips, steamed vegetables, and desserts. Throughout the show, your food will be refilled as much as you like. Thai tradition encourages you to eat with your fingers, using little balls of sticky rice to scoop up the main entrees or dips in bite-sized pieces. Silverware will also be provided for your convenience.

While you dine, musicians will play traditional songs and dancers will put on a Thai classical performance. The songs, dances, and costumes are influenced by Northern Thai culture as well as the nearby Shan and Burmese cultures. Each Thai dance showcase important aspects of local folklore, literature, and royal events. Witness dances about silk weaving and sword fighting and others that honor important guests and past princesses. The evening concludes with the Circle Dance, in which you are invited to join the dancers on stage before returning to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
