About the Chiang Mai Elephant Camp Tour

After a peaceful drive through the countryside, this tour begins deep in the jungles of Chiang Mai. First hop on a traditional bamboo raft and take in the beautiful sights, cool breezes, and soft sounds of nature while gently floating down the Mae Taeng River. Afterward, take a short ride in a minibus to the Mae Tamaan Elephant Camp and get your first glimpse of the elephants as they take a refreshing bath in the river with their mahouts (elephant trainers). Be sure to take a photo while these playful animals are in the water! After cooling off, the elephants will play football, paint pictures, dance, and haul logs for you at the camp.

After enjoying a traditional Thai lunch near the river, take an unforgettable elephant ride through the jungle to a local hill tribe community handicraft center. The handicraft center has displays of intricate beaded jewelry, elaborate clothing, and hand-woven baskets, all handmade by the people of the Lisu hill tribe.

Return to the elephant camp on a traditional ox cart and then visit an orchid and butterfly farm. Discover the many species of orchids that thrive in Thailand’s tropical climate and even sit inside a butterfly enclosure and experience the touches of their gentle wings as they flutter around you.
